Christmas at Sea
It is time to start organizing and planning for Christmas at Sea and delivery of "ditty boxes" to the ships arriving in Delaware. The Seamen's Center of Wilmington is extremely lucky to have so many contributors - and knitters.
Every year, the community rallies together to fill the void that the comes from being away from home and family during the holidays. The program last year delivered 1217 ditty boxes to ships arriving at the Port of Wilmington during December.
We welcome your contributions to the program and have included our wish list below. This program is even more important this year since many of the seafarers have been on board for an extended period and it is a wonderful way to remember these isolated supply-chain heroes.
This year, KUMC will be packing ditty boxes with the items guided by the shopping list below. Please be sure to bring in the items listed or similar by Sunday, December 1, 2024. Allen Streett will be taking the boxes on Sunday, December 8, 2024 to be delivered.
Remember, all items must fit inside a shoebox!
